Peer Review Process

Your article will be submitted for peer review following general review by the editor. The review process aims to provide readers of Sri Lankan Journal of Infectious Diseases with material of a high quality. It aims to preclude inadvertent publication of poor quality scientific papers, articles that contain errors and those that serve to endorse a particular product.

The reviewers are selected on the basis of their expertise (based on the topic of the article) to perform a critical review of the article's relevance and appropriateness for publication in SLJID and its originality, scientific validity and organisation. SLJID uses both local and international experts as reviewers. All submissions (except editorial and the occasional invited article) are sent to 2 reviewers.

The reviewer makes recommendation as to whether: the manuscript is ready for publication, requires revision (minor, moderate, major), or is deemed unsuitable for publication in the Sri Lankan Journal of Infectious Diseases. All such peer reviews are conducted anonymously in a "double-blind" process that aims to provide fair and unbiased reviews.

If the reviewers recommend modifications, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for revision; if not, the author(s) will be notified of acceptance of the manuscript and the issue in which it is likely to be published. The review process takes several weeks, with most manuscripts requiring some revision. Hence, authors should not be discouraged by requests to rewrite their submissions.
